Timber Casement Windows in Great Milton

In Great Milton and the surrounding area, a few properties remain with steel Crittle windows housed in timber subframes. With the conductivity of steel coupled with the thermal inefficiency of the single glazing and old seals, these windows allow a lot of heat loss as compromise the security.
We were asked to replace the old Crittle with flush casement hardwood windows and to match in with a Farrow & Ball colour. We were still able to maintain the classic aesthetics of white satin inside. By advising the client on the possibility of having horizontal cottage bars, the traditional cottage appearance has been kept while bringing them up to modern living standards.

Wheatley Park Academy – 6th Form Corridor

Windmill windows were asked to overhaul the 6th form corridor at Wheatley Park Academy completely. The current corridor was made out of softwood timber, suffering from rot and wood worm. Along with the single glazed glass made the corridor not thermally efficient with the security not meeting the required standard. We changed the lower shiplap with 28mm insulated panelling and the upper shiplap with uPVC shiplap. The windows were replaced with bevel profiled ‘A’ rated uPVC, and the door replaced with a commercial aluminium entrance door. By using aluminium the longevity of the door was improved with the ability to add the keyless fob entry door handle that was required. All the glass used was 28mm width units, argon gas-filled K glass to maximise the thermal efficiency. All glass units were also toughened and laminated for safety and enhanced security being a high traffic area.

UPVC Box Sash Windows – The Old Coach House, Thame

After investigating the original layout of the windows, our advice meant that our client was able to pass the proposed windows through planning successfully.
All the rectangular and slim arched top windows at the back of the property were replaced with Box Sash windows in white wood grain uPVC. The windows at the front of the property were replaced with arched top Box Sashes to encompass the full aperture of the brickwork. The windows were taken back to their traditional look, and the flats inside were open to more light than before.
By using the new uPVC Box Sash windows, with wood grain effect, traditional furniture, and modern glazing, the flats now benefit from:
  • Increased security
  • Better fire escape
  • Increased thermal efficiency
  • Maintaining traditional aesthetics
